Charvell Collies

 

Welcome to Charvell Collies, located near Erskine, Alberta, Canada.  Charvell Collies is a small kennel averaging about one litter every two or three years.  I grow out at least one puppy from every litter with the potential to contribute to my breeding program.

Collies are renowned (known) for their intelligent, friendly, loyal and sensitive nature with a strong desire to be a loyal companion to their family.  These traits make them an ideal family dog.  They are biddable and eager to please making them easy to train.  They are one of the easiest breeds to adapt to their new homes.  A Collie raised with kindness and respect will become an ideal companion for the entire family.  Collies are happiest playing with their people, accompanying them on long walks, or sharing the couch for a cuddle.   With proper socializing, exercise and attention Collies offer a lifetime of joyful companionship filled with laughter, loyalty and special moments.

My breeding program is focused on health, temperament, and the enduring legacy of this magnificent breed.  Discover what makes a Charvell Collie truly special.

Charvell Collies was established in 1981 by Bonnie Tovell.  We are a small kennel producing beautiful health tested, typey collies located in Central Alberta.   As a responsible preservation breeder, health testing is an important part of my breeding program.

Charvell Collies has produced conformation champions, performance titled dogs, therapy dogs and many family companions.

I breed for correct conformation according to the Collie Club of Canada /Canadian Kennel Club / Standard.  Prior to considering a breeding the parents are health tested for inherited issues, be healthy with good temperaments and be good  representatives of the breed. 

One of my goals as a breeder is to increase the number of genetically normal eyed collies while maintaining type, soundness and other important health clearances.  I’m thrilled there is a DNA test now for CEA assessment to assist with this goal.

My Collie puppies are raised in my home in a clean healthy environment.  I average a litter every two to three years.  I like to keep my numbers low so the Collies I keep get the attention and care they deserve.  

Each puppy will have appropriate socialization, vaccinations, an eye exam by a certified Veterinarian Ophthalmologist, a health exam by a licensed Veterinarian, Microchip for permanent identification, and a health guarantee.

I occasionally offer well socialized adults to responsible companion homes.
