Charvell Collies was established in 1981 by Bonnie Tovell.  We are a small kennel producing beautiful health tested, typey Collies located in Central Alberta.   As a responsible preservation breeder, health testing is an important part of my breeding program.

Charvell Collies has produced conformation champions, performance titled dogs, therapy dogs and many family companions.

I breed for correct conformation according to the Collie Club of Canada / Canadian Kennel Club standard.  Prior to considering a breeding the parents are health tested for inherited issues, are healthy with good temperaments and are good  representatives of the breed. 

One of my goals as a breeder is to increase the number of genetically normal eyed Collies in the population while maintaining type, soundness and other important health clearances.  I’m thrilled there is a DNA test now for CEA  (Collie Eye Anomaly) assessment to assist with this goal.

My Collie puppies are raised in my home in a clean healthy environment.  I average a litter every two to three years.   I grow out at least one puppy from every litter with the potential to contribute to my breeding program.  I like to maintain low numbers so the Collies I keep get the attention and care they deserve.  

Each puppy will have appropriate socialization, vaccinations, an eye exam by a certified Veterinarian Ophthalmologist, a health exam by a licensed Veterinarian,  microchip for permanent identification, and a health guarantee.

I occasionally offer well socialized adults to responsible companion homes.
